As the Lead Teacher, you come to work each day excited and ready to make a difference in children's lives. Working cooperatively with another teacher, you teach a class of approx. 17 children each. You develop weekly lesson plans to ignite the curiosity and growth of the children in our preschool. You track each child's growth through observations, portfolio documentation, developmental checklist, and assessment data.
As a Head Start teacher, you not only provide an educational opportunity to children, but you work with the whole family to help them become more self-sufficient. Each year you conduct two home visits and two parent-teacher conferences.
The Lead Teacher completes case management for each student's family, creates lesson plans, and assists children in achieving their goals. While you have challenging moments, most of your time is spent having a lot of fun. Since you love interacting with children, you can definitely say that you get paid to do what you love.
